Many patients are told that their only options are monitoring, nutritional supplements (such as AREDS), and lifestyle changes, all of which remain important parts of care, but may not always feel like enough.

Introducing MacuMira — now available at Laser Cataract Centre

We are pleased to offer MacuMira, a non-invasive, Health Canada-approved medical device designed to help improve visual function in patients with Dry AMD.

MacuMira works differently than traditional approaches. Rather than replacing what you may already be doing, it is designed to support the health and function of retinal cells through a gentle microcurrent treatment delivered over closed eyelids. This microcurrent is intended to support cellular and mitochondrial activity in the retina, areas affected in Dry AMD.

Many patients use MacuMira alongside their current management plan, including AREDS supplements and regular monitoring.

What Patients May Notice

While results vary from person to person, patients using MacuMira have reported improvements such as:

  • Improved visual function for daily activities
  • Better contrast sensitivity (seeing more clearly in low-light or low-contrast situations)
  • Greater confidence with tasks affected by central vision changes

Our goal is to offer options that help patients preserve their vision and, in some cases, restore aspects of visual function, rather than simply waiting for further decline.
